PAGENAUD WINS LONG BEACH IN CONTROVERSIAL FINISH

One for the History Books

Simon Pagenaud won the Toyota GP of Long Beach on Sunday after a huge call to give Pagenaud a warning after an illegal exit off of pit road.  Pagenaud cut the yellow line at the entrance of turn one, or at the end of Shoreline Blvd.  He cleared Scott Dixon by an inch to hold the lead and cruise to his 5th career victory, and first since 2014, as well as his first win with Team Penske.  “The big gamble played off,” the Frenchman said in Victory Lane.  “It was difficult, but we managed to do it.  It is awesome.”  Pagenaud was able to grow his points lead to 14 points over Scott Dixon.
