LSU vs. Missouri

It was a thrilling week of College Football in week 5.  Here are the biggest headlines from week 5.

Clemson was able to defeat Louisville 42-36 after Louisville wide receiver James Quick fell one yard short of a critical first down with 33 seconds left in the game when Louisville had been driving to the red zone for the go-ahead score.  Deshaun Watson was 20 of 31 for 306 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.  He also ran for 91 yards on fourteen carries.  Watson is now second on Heisman watch, behind Louisville QB Lamar Jackson.  Jackson passed for 295 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, and ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries.  Clemson is looking to be a strong championship contender again this year, now 5-0.

LSU defeated Missouri 42-7 in their first game without Les Miles in several years.  Ed Orgeron mixed some passes in along with some runs, and it proved to be successful.  Derrius Guice ran for 163 yards on 17 attempts and 3 touchdowns, and Darrel Williams also helped out, rushing for 130 yards on 21 attempts and3 touchdowns.  QB Danny Etling passed for 216 yards and zero touchdowns.  LSU looks to have a bright future with the way they performed against Missouri.

The sellout crowd at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium got to see their Washington Huskies devour Stanford 44-6.  At no time was there any evidence that the Cardinal could contend with the Huskies.  Stanford Heisman-contending HB Christian McCaffrey ran for only 49 yards on twelve carries, with no touchdowns.  Certainly not a Heisman worthy performance.  Here are the current Heisman rankings.
