COLLEGE FOOTBALL RECAP: WEEK 6

Texas A&M moves up to No. 6 in AP Poll

We had another exciting week of College Football.  Here is a recap of all the action from week 6:

Deshaun Watson and the Clemson Tigers were clearly the better team on Friday night, beating Boston College 56-10.  Watson put together another nice performance, going 14 of 24 for 266 yards and 4 touchdowns passing, and rushing for 28 yards.  He even made a block for Wayne Gallman on his 59 yard touchdown run.  “It was a taxing week, but our guy didn’t complain,” head coach Dabo Swinney said.  “They just went through the grind.  I love the mentality of that team.”

Texas A&M was able to beat Tennessee in double OT on Saturday to stay undefeated.  They are now 6-0, the first time since 1994.  QB Trevor Knight bulled in for a 1 yard TD himself to win the game in double OT.  Knight passed for 239 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 110 yards and 3 touchdown.  Texas A&M now leads the SEC West over Alabama.  Texas A&M has a bye week in week 7, while Tennessee will host Alabama on Saturday.

Oklahoma defeated Texas 45-40 in the Red River Showdown rivalry game at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday.  Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield was the star of the game, going 22/31 and 390 yards, as well as 3 touchdowns in passing, and ran for 20 yards and a touchdown on four carries.  OU improved to 3-2, while Texas coach Charlie Strong is not giving Texas the wins they want, only 2-3 this year.  Texas needs to win most of the final 7 games this year if Strong has any chance of keeping his job as Texas head coach.
