DEAR PILATES: HAVE-DONE’S AND WANT-TO’S

5 things I learned doing pilates

Pilates is something you see a lot of on social media, so I went ahead and tried it to give you guys the scoop!

Here are 5 things I’ve learned since trying pilates for the first time:

1) No matter how in shape you think you are, pilates will make you feel like someone who hasn’t been to a gym a day in their life.

2) No matter how flexible you think you are, pilates will show you just how stiff your muscles are, and force you to feel little muscles you didn’t know even existed (basically imagine a T-rex trying to touch its toes).

3) If you think you have coordination, well… just try pilates. You’ll change your mind- I promise.

4) A “stomach massage” is not on your stomach. Nor is it a massage. In fact, it is ANYTHING but a massage.

5)    I am sore in places I didn’t know could become sore.

All in all, pilates was a very humbling and fun experience while also being one of the hardest workouts I’ve ever done. Still, I absolutely loved it! I am so excited to continue trying out new techniques and growing in skill level (and in flexibility).
