Last Saturday night (November 25th), my brother Aaron and I went to see the movie Wonder. Based on Raquel J. Palacio’s novel of the same name, Wonder tells the story of August “Auggie” Pullman (Jacob Tremblay), a young boy who has a facial deformity caused by Treacher Collins syndrome. Having been homeschooled all his life, Auggie’s parents (Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson) decide that it is time for him to give public school a try. With the encouragement and loving support of his parents and sister Via (Izabela Vidovic), Auggie must overcome many challenges, mainly bullying and trying to figure out where he belongs, and even makes some friends along the way.

Wonder manages to tug at your heartstrings and tickle your ribs at the same time, something that not many films are able to pull off successfully. The film was well received, making an outstanding $27,547,866 in the box office during its opening weekend alone. Its success can be largely credited to the film’s cast and director. The film was directed by Stephen Chbosky (The Four Corners of Nowhere, Rent, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), and stars Jacob Tremblay (Shut In, Before I Wake, The Book of Henry), Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, Runaway Bride), Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, Marley & Me, Midnight in Paris), Izabela Vidovic (Christmas Angel, Homefront, Help For The Holidays), and many other seasoned actors. I highly recommend this film. If you have not yet seen the trailer for this fantastic film, here is the link to the official trailer on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob7fPOzbmzE.
