The Villanova Wildcats won their second championship in the last 3 years on Monday night, defeating the Michigan Wolverines 79-62. Donte DiVincenzo scored a career high 31 points on 10 for 15 shooting, including 5 three-pointers, coming off the bench for Villanova. He also had two blocks, and was the game’s most outstanding player. “Honestly, no, I did not think that I was going to have this kind of night, because every night I come into a game, I just try to bring energy,” DiVincenzo said. “And if we start off, we get off to a good start, I try to take the energy to a new level. I try to defend and rebound to the best of my ability and just trying to get it going. And, like I said, these guys did a great job of finding me, and I just found myself in a rhythm.” Mikal Bridges had 19 points in what was likely his last game with Villanova, as he will most likely enter the NBA Draft. Jalen Brunson, the AP Player of the Year, had just nine points, but was content with not being the #1 option in the game. “If someone’s hot, feed `em,” said Brunson, referring to DiVincenzo’s great performance.

This year’s NCAA tournament was one many will remember for a long time. The Cinderella run to the final four by Loyola-Chicago, UMBC becoming the first 16 seed to defeat a 1 seed, and the incredible game between Duke and Kansas in the Elite 8 are only some of the great moments of this year’s tournament. Buzzer beaters by Jordan Poole and Donte Ingram also highlighted the tournament in a big way.
