Some of many Horrors we face
Can be
Self caused
Preventable
Avoidable
But if they were so avoidable
Would they really ever be considered
A horror?
Walking through the forest
This time without fear
The newly hatched butterflies bumping into trees
Having no coordination or sense of surrounding
Such as yourself
You run along with the butterflies and animals
Hidden amongst the dense forestry
Seeming to have a wispy taint in their shadows
You see a large butterfly
You yearn to hold it
To feel it’s desirable
Almost magical nature just grace the tips of your hand
You run towards it
Jumping over tree branches and small shrubs
Freshly dug fox holes and squirrel berry stashes
You near the edge of the forest leading to the ledge of a cliff
Still far off from the cliff, you see it safe to jump
With no landing
You fall into a hole similar to those known in Antarctica
To be dangerous
Starting very open but sinking into a funnel like hole
Similar to traps bugs use against each other
To have an advantage
The forest has trapped you
You’ve run too far from home
And slipped too far into the earth’s warm embrace
You now regret trying to be so greedy as to
Have the forest mystical creatures grace your fingertips
Your screams are nothing against the
Rushing wind outside your death canal
Even if people were to look for you
They wouldn’t hear
They wouldn’t see
They would be too late
And so they were.
