It was Amelia’s first night in her new apartment. Her parents had helped her move in the day before, and she unpacked a little then, and finished unpacking today. It was around 10:00 PM, and she was reading in her bed, all alone. Her best friend was still in high school, so she was taking a gap year so she could save money, and they could start college at the same time. She heard knocking on the door, and she was curious, scared, but curious. She got up, put on her robe, and went to the door, she looked through the peephole, and found someone staring through it. She nearly had a heart attack! She dropped to the floor, thinking about what just happened. She didn’t recognize the person from what she could see. She called the police, and asked them to come scan the halls. The police arrived about 10 minutes later, and found nothing. They left but told her to call back if the man showed up again. Amelia timed it. As soon as the police got on the highway, she heard another knock. She was scared but she looked through the peephole, but no one was there. Just her neighbor’s bland door. Then all of the sudden he popped right back in front of the peephole and Amelia dropped to the floor. She was out. Cold. It was about 10:32 when she passed out, and she woke up, about 10 minutes after. She called the police again and she showed up, and offered to take her to the police station. She agreed immediately, and the two officers stayed with her while she packed an overnight bag. One of the officers was outside the door, watching for him to come back, and see if they could get an identity. But nothing happened. Amelia finished in record time, and they drove off. One of the officers set a camera by the peephole, positioned just right to see if they could get a good look. But he never showed up again. Not until the next night. Amelia just got back, and since she lived in a kind of ghetto apartment complex, the officers had to set up cameras. As soon as the officers left, he showed up. Again. Amelia didn’t even have to look through the peephole to know it was him. She texted the police and they went on the cameras but they couldn’t get anything. He was wearing a black hoodie, and black sweatpants. Their plan had failed. Until he turned around, looked straight up at one of the cameras, and smiled. He stood there for minutes. Staring. He looked quite unwell, bloodshot eyes, pale yellow skin. Until they realized it was a mask. That wasn’t really him. He wasn’t sick, from all they know. He was just a creep. He left after 15 minutes, and by then, they’d formed a new plan. A good one. They were gonna have 8 officers, all of them enter the apartment, and 7 leave. He wouldn’t be able to tell with such a large number of officers. It was the next night. They’d already put their plan in motion. Now they were waiting. And then, it happened. He was there. The officer busted the door open and pinned the man to the ground. He took off the mask, and found it to be a small, weak man. They arrested him. And when they took him in for questioning, he admitted and explained why he did it. “I like to report. I was reporting everything she did. That I could see, at least. I like to watch. To view from the outside.”

About the Contributor
Curtis Bamber, Co-Associate Editor
My name is Curtis Bamber, and I’m a junior here at iUniversity Prep. This is my 5th year here at the school and iHoot! This year I will be your Co-Associate Editor at iHoot! I am originally from Australia, but after moving to Texas 9 years ago, I have had a fantastic time and I am fortunate to be in the position where I am today. Outside of school, I am involved in many different extracurricular activities but I focus on helping out my family’s non-profit organization called MORE Community which helps teach adults with IDD (Intellectual Development Delays) with the primary goal of creating a community for all. Another activity that I am very passionate about is working out. For the past four years, I have been working out close to every day with my brother and father. Working out has become one of my favorite activities that I find myself doing as I not only get to push my own limits, but I also get to spend more time with my family. I am constantly working on myself and thinking about different ways that I can help improve myself. I am very excited to be one of the leader here at iHoot again, and I can’t wait for what this next year has in store for me.
