Hello Owls! Are you looking for a way to get involved at iUP, try new foods, and make new friends? If you are, then come to a Texas Flavor Quest meeting! Texas Flavor Quest is a club hosted here at iUP by Mr. Burch that is dedicated towards trying new foods throughout the state of Texas. No matter what part of Texas you are in, we will try to host an Eatup there! If you’re interested in learning about Texas Flavor Quest, please contact Mr. Lucas Burch!
We had our first ever “Eatup” on September 27 at Legacy Food Hall in Plano, TX! With over 15 people attending, we all tried different foods from pizza to ramen!
At Legacy Food Hall, there are multiple floors with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have 20+ vendors from varying cuisines, so there’s something for everyone! They use fresh, real, quality ingredients. The ambiance and environment of Legacy Hall is quite spectacular as well. As a vegetarian myself, sometimes it is difficult to find foods that I can eat. However, Legacy Food Hall offers food options that accommodate various dietary restrictions. It is casual dining, as you order your food and there is open seating. They also frequently host events and concerts throughout the year such as Star Wars Trivia.
I had sushi and nachos from Hōru Sushi Kitchen and Chilangos Tacos (pictured left). I come here quite often, so my go-to orders are a vegetarian crunchy spicy roll and los nachos plain. The sushi is priced at $9.00 for 10 pieces, and the nachos are priced at $13.50 and feed about 4-5 people. I would give the sushi a solid 8/10. It is a meal that keeps me coming back for more! I would give the nachos a solid 9/10. Not a single thing bad to say about it except I wished there was more pico. Other than that, I constantly crave these nachos and it is something that I can rely on to taste good every time. It is truly a bang for your buck. They use fresh, real, quality ingredients. The ambiance and environment of Legacy Hall is quite spectacular as well.
Here are some reviews from other Texas Flavor Quest members who attended the meetup:
Ms. Province said “At the EatUp for Texas Flavor Quest, I had the Nashville Hot sushi roll from Horu Sushi Kitchen. (pictured below) I would give this a strong 8.5/10. It was fresh, crunchy, and the perfect amount of heat! With 5 varieties of seafood and jalapeño and sriracha, this was a specialty roll that I would highly recommend!”
Mr. Rains (pictured below) says “The Chowder from Dock Local was a great consistency, with just the right mixture of potatoes and crabs. The warmth was perfect and reminded me of being in the North East. The only issue was I had a dill-based chowder before, and I loved that flavor more than this one. If you want a taste familiar to North East cuisine, it is WORTH it.”
Overall, I would say our first Texas Flavor Quest Eatup was a success! We had a great turnout and ate great food as well. Legacy Hall was a fantastic way to start our club! Can’t wait to see what this club has in store for us next.
