North Texas Teen Book Festival
Saturday, April 23rd, iUniversity Prep took a trip to the North Texas Teen Book Festival! The event was held at Irving Convention center, and was a huge hit!
Some students from our school, (including myself) met up with Mrs. Mount and Mrs. Harbison for a fun day at the festival, where we got to meet and hear great advice from amazing authors, such as James Dashner, Gayle Foreman, and Holly Black!
There were nearly a hundred authors there, each with panels and autograph lines. The authors all shared information on where the inspiration for their books came from, the development of their stories and having their books made into hit movies. They shared advice for young writers on how to create a great story, how to not get discouraged and how to make the reader want to turn the page. They also had a great sense of humor, and everyone in the audience had a good laugh!
The festival was very busy, but offered lots of wisdom for those who look up to their favorite authors, or aspire to be one themselves. You had an option to ask each author a question, to buy books and to get books signed! It was truly a fantastic time, and I loved getting to hang out with my fellow classmates. The North Texas Teen Book Festival was not only a great learning experience, but an awesome, fun-filled time! A complete success!
