HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS
Ideas for Halloween that you probably haven’t heard before.
Regardless of what this Texas heat may have you thinking, fall is here (finally!) Now that September has ended, it’s time to 1. Wake up the lead singer from Green Day and 2. Start planning your Halloween costume! Instead of going for your same old boring store bought Halloween costumes this year, here’s a few ideas for super easy (and original) costumes you can create on your own!
1. 90’s Characters
So the 90’s have made an obvious comeback this year with all the chokers, high-waisted jeans, and oversized sweatshirts. Why not embrace this trend by going as your favorite 90’s character for Halloween? Clueless, Friends, or The Adam’s Family (especially for Halloween) are a few ideas, but get creative and go all out to look totally rad (and throwback-ish) this Halloween!
2. Woodland Creatures
If you’re one to go for the classic cat or bunny for Halloween, this year trade in your cotton tails and whiskers for antlers and fox ears. There’s so many creative ways to be a deer, fox, or any other woodland creature this Halloween. Incorporate face makeup, decorative headpieces, and forest inspired warm toned clothing to get the woodland creature look.
3. Fruit
This may seem odd, but Pinterest has been flooded with costumes of fruit this year! For example to be a pineapple, wear anything yellow with a leafy green DIY headpiece. For watermelon, wear pink and green and tape black paper in the shape of seeds on your clothing. There’s so many more options along with this so just go with your favorite fruit.
4. Pun Costumes
If you’re into last minute, super easy costumes, that will get you tons of laughs, the ever so classic pun costume is the one for you. There are tons of ideas online if you just google ‘pun costumes’. A few of my favorites are: A ceiling fan (pom poms and flags that say “go ceiling”) Spice Girls (a group of girls dressed as various spices), when life gives you lemons (wear a T-shirt that says ‘life’ and pass out lemons) and so many more painfully punny costumes.
5. A Dead (Blank)
This isn’t really a specific costume idea because there are so many ways you can do this. Be literally anything you can think of, a princess, cat, Starbucks worker … except dead. This unexpected twist on any Halloween costume will make it equal parts scary and more fun! Make yourself dead with makeup and fake wounds, it’s the perfect way to stand out on Halloween.
