CUBS ARE THE CHAMPS, BUT DID YOU KNOW?
First championship since 1908
The Cubs came back from being down 3 games to 1 to win the World Series!
Game 7, which will most likely go down as the most exciting games of all time, went into 10 innings with a rain delay.
The last time the Cubs won a World Series was 1908.
Let’s take a look at how much our world has changed since the beloved Cubbies were World Series Champions.
Major League Baseball consisted of only 16 teams, including the Washington Senators.
Teddy Roosevelt was President of the U.S.
A dozen eggs cost 14 cents. Coffee was 15 cents a pound.
Only 8% of homes in the United States had telephones.
The United States flag only had 46 stars because New Mexico, Arizona, Hawaii, and Alaska had not been admitted into the United States yet.
The population of Las Vegas was 30 people.
There were only 8,000 cars on America’s roads.
The average wage for workers was 22 cents an hour.
In case you didn’t know, the Cubs have been unable to win a World Series in 108 years because of curse put on the team in 1945. A local bar owner was angered when he and his goat, yes a goat, were kicked out of Wrigley Field. So after the Cubs win over the Cleveland Indians, management enjoyed eating roasted goat in the left field bleachers of Wrigley Field.
Now with the curse broken who knows what the Chicago Cubs are capable of doing.
Could back to back wins be on the horizon?
