Kyle Busch won in an unbelievable series of events towards the end of Sunday’s First Data 500 at Martinsville.  Joey Logano had his tire cut down after contact with Busch, causing Logano to spin out.  On the ensuing restart, Chase Elliott took the lead from Brad Keselowski, who led 108 laps.  Elliott drove into turn 3 really hard and ran Brad up the groove.  The next lap, Denny Hamlin, who usually races with a lot of class, jacked up Chase Elliott’s #24 and spun him out, ending Elliott’s hopes of getting his first career win.  On the cool-down lap after the race, Elliott pinned Hamlin’s car against the wall and it led to an altercation outside of the cars between the two.  “My mom always said if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” Elliott said.  “He’s not even worth my time. …  We had a good opportunity.  I can’t control his decisions and whatever the hell that was.  On to Texas.”

Kyle Busch has punched his ticket to the Championship 4 with his win on Sunady, the 43rd of his career, 5th of this season, and 2nd at Martinsville.  “I wanted to get a better restart, pinch Denny down a little bit, but it actually kind of worked out better for me that he got ahead a little bit, gave me a gap,” Busch said.  “I got down, and he got into turn 3 and just pushed up the racetrack and I knew I had to plug that hole right away cause I was just going to get beat on from behind.”  The playoff standings took a huge hit, with the top 3 way out ahead of the field heading into Texas.  The AAA Texas 500 will be on NBCSN at 1:00 Central Time.
