HURRICANE HARVEY AND IUPREP

Hurricane Harvey has had a lasting impact on the Houston area and iUPrep students.

By now I am sure everyone has heard of Hurricane Harvey. From the news to the newspaper to even social media, it has been everywhere!  But not every news source gets into the effects Harvey has had and will have on the students of our school and surrounding schools.

With all of the massive amounts of rainwater over the Houston area there has been power outages, flooding, houses have been damaged and most are ruined. Without having power our iUPrep students wouldn’t be able to use computers, or even laptops. You can use a laptop for only so long before the battery dies.

The floods are causing people to lose everything. From cars to houses to all their belongings. Most people had to walk away with just the clothes on their backs and leave beloved pets behind since most shelters wouldn’t allow the evacuees to bring their pets with them. Some people got stranded in their homes, which lead to the drowning of lots of people. Another horrific event was the shortages of food, gas, and even drinking water. Most people evacuated when they were told to which helped to keep them alive. Even though they had to leave everything behind, they are still alive today! One thing that was pretty neat was that the U.S. Air Force used their airplane to transport people all over the country to safety. They didn’t know where they were going but now they are all safe!
