LOVE AND GELATO; BOOK REVIEW

Here are some thoughts on the book “Love and Gelato” by Jenna Evans Welch.

In a world of electronics and mobile apps, my favorite thing to wind down is lying down and reading a book.  Recently, I finished the novel “Love and Gelato” by Jenna Evans Welch.  While it wasn’t the most mature or challenging read, it was a book I could not put down!  In the novel the main character, Lina, is sent down a spiralling path of sadness due to her mother’s death.  However, she is also sent to live at her dad’s house in Florence, Italy.  At only 17-years of age, she travels by plane to Florence all by herself.  Upon her arrival, she discovers that she is to stay at a memorial and that her mother had sent her a journal that she kept during her time in Italy.   As Lina reads the journal, she experiences similar things in her own life alongside the friends that she makes while in Italy.  Everything seems perfect- beautiful scenery, flavorful gelato, great friends, and a father that cares for her.  But something seemed off.  Is everyone who they say they are? People go to italy for several reasons, but they stay for only two reasons- love, and gelato.  Her mother had both, so why did she leave?  This book is a light read but well worth your time! Experience the mystery and romance of florence, italy as the plot unfurls in your hands.  With the sequel to this excellent novel coming out May 8 of this year, it is a great time to start reading!
