HAPPY MARCH
Here are the upcoming holidays and facts about March!
Hey, owls! I’m starting a monthly series of things that happen each month. Welcome to March!
On March 8th, we set our clocks ahead for daylight savings time, that some states don’t even participate in, mind you. It had something to do with farmers and getting more sunlight but it’s not really necessary anymore.
March 14th is Pi day! Though pie and pi are different, it’s a good excuse to eat pi and it makes math lovers everywhere laugh a little.
March 15th is the ides of March! Maybe have a Caesar salad? Or is that too much? Both Historians and Theatre people alike will understand that.
March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day. Perhaps wear green, orange, and white? Those are the colors of the Irish flag. It’s time to break out the shamrock glasses and leprechaun socks.
March 20th is the Vernal Equinox, or otherwise known as the first day of Spring!
March 23rd is perhaps the best day. It is Toast Day. I don’t know who said so, but I’m in.
March 26th is Robert Frost’s birthday. This is mostly included for Mrs.Harbison, who teaches high school English at iUPrep.
I feel like the sports editors will come after me if I don’t mention March Madness. Basketball time! Is this the one where everyone makes brackets? I’m theatre, not sports, so don’t expect me to know!
I’ll leave with this: March is named for the Roman god Mars, in Greek, Ares.
