Most Winter Classics are held in the north, so there were a lot of raised eyebrows in the hockey league because they moved the event to the south, a region with teams that have never played in the Winter Classic. The Bridgestone Winter Classic is the National Hockey League’s annual New Year’s Day game held in an outdoor arena. The teams are both very excited and honored to be a part of such a big event. Recently, Ben Bishop, the goalie of the Dallas Stars, said that when he joined the Dallas Stars he never thought that they would take him to the Winter Classic–but he was very happy they did. This is the 12th year for the Winter Classic. This means that families and friends all gather and watch it as a tradition.
