NO ESCAPE
A spooky Halloween poem
The day is as black as night,
Street lamps struggle to shine,
Clouds blanket, block, barricade the sun, it
Seems as if all of the light,
Has been sucked out
of the world.
Shadows creep and crawl across my vision,
I scream, but no sound appears,
My throat tightens,
My breath is caught, it
Has been sucked out
of me.
I close my eyes,
As tightly as I can,
But I can still see
The sharp teeth, Teeth, TEETH,
Of its mouth,
Covered in rot, flies, maggots,
Sucking.
Me.
In.
The monster has trapped me,
I cannot escape,
From its lair,
It’s sharp claws,
Digging, grinding, scraping,
Me,
RAW.
I am vulnerable,
Weak,
NO ESCAPE,
From the dark, deep, dank,
Pit.
Of.
Shame.
