TEDx PERSPECTIVES

Jacob Martinez

On Halloween, I had the honor to go to the TedxSMU Conference in Dallas. TEDx is a conference for creative young people, most of which are middle schoolers. Students are chosen to attend based on essays that they write about specific topics. There were several students from IUniversity selected to attend the conference and it was an amazing experience for all of us.

We had the opportunity to hear some amazing speakers. Many of them talked about being difference makers in the world. There were also other presenters who shared their talents with us like singing, playing instruments, and reading poetry. It was very inspiring to hear them share. We even got to hear from a movie director for “The Book of Life”, a very recent film. My mom encouraged me to take a notebook for notes, which I wasn’t really excited about doing. However, it was good that I had something to write notes as I ended up taking sixteen pages of notes. It was a great day and I, along with the other students, learned a lot. I hope to go back next year.

Here are some TEDxSMU talks from the TEDxSMU website. Watch and change the world.
