THE PERFECT PET FOR YOU!
Many families have dogs and cats as their pets. Who doesn’t love cats and dogs? But maybe you’re considering a different family pet, or you’d like a pet of your own that is smaller. Here, I’m going to given summaries of several types of pets to help you choose which one is perfect for you!
FISH:
Almost everyone has had a fish before. If you haven’t, fish are the easiest pets to take care of. Sure, you can’t pet them or play with them, but they are fun to watch and come in many different types and colors! They require simple care, feeding mainly twice a day and bowl cleaning every other day. An alternative to cleaning the bowl is buying a tank with a built in filter. Although they are a little more costly, they come in a lot of handy and keep your fish healthy. Fish do not live long, but they are definitely a great pet for beginners!
HAMSTER, MOUSE, AND GERBIL:
Hamsters, mice, and gerbils are adorable furry friends with great personalities! They require feeding whenever their bowl is empty and water whenever the bottle is dry. They’re bedding must be changed every week, or you can train them to use a litter box. They require exercise as well, which can be easily provided with a wheel in their cage, which they can run on 24/7. These three rodents are adorable, fun to play with, cuddly and great for responsible beginners!
RABBIT
Rabbits require lots of care and attention. They must be fed whenever their bowls are empty and must have clean water a lot. Moderate room temperatures are important, and certain techniques must be used to ensure the rabbit does not get over heated during summer. Their littler boxes must be cleaned every week at the most, and their bedding cleaned every week as well. They must be played with a lot in order to not become obese. Anytime you are not busy, it is a good idea to play with them. They must have “projects” aka toys and things to do to keep them from getting bored in their cages. They can be fed a variety of food, mostly including dried vegetable mixes and timothy hay, with helps them digest their food. Rabbits shed as well, so they must be brushed every day during shedding season and every week during other times. Lastly, rabbits can play with cats, for most of the time the two species get along great, but are terrified of dogs. Never let your dog near your rabbit, and if you smell of your dog, change clothes or put on cologne/perfume for rabbits can die from a heart attack due to the presence of dogs. Rabbits are for responsible owners, but they are such funny and sweet animals that all the work is worth it!
