MAKE WAY FOR THE METAVERSE

A Breakdown of A Virtual World

There have been a number of technological advancements so far in the 20th century. Mobile phones and being able to stream TV at any time are all impressive, but never has the world seen anything as ambitious as the metaverse. It may seem new now, but in a few years, everyone will be accustomed to this new tech.

What Is The Metaverse?

The metaverse is an amazing combination of both virtual and augmented reality. In a sense, it is like a second world on the internet. Video games such as Fortnite offer an image of what the metaverse could possibly become by offering experiences such as virtual concerts, but it could take years before this virtual breakthrough fully takes effect.

The Push Towards The Metaverse

One company in particular is all in on the idea of the Metaverse. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has done plenty of work to try to make the metaverse a reality. Ever since the tech giant acquired Oculus in 2014, they’ve made VR into a major part of their brand, and they clearly aren’t stopping there.

iUP And The Metaverse

Two thirds of iUP students surveyed have heard about the metaverse, so it clearly is a familiar concept. However, the opinions on the metaverse are greatly different. Some think that it is an innovative idea, while others don’t like it because of how much time would have to be dedicated to it.

One student approves of the Metaverse and the possibilities it beholds. “The metaverse seems like an interesting world of technology,” they said. However, they were unsure about the fact another technological device entering a market already filled to the brim with iPhones, PCs, and Playstations that could keep someone occupied. “I believe that people should do more manual things once in a while and disconnect from technology to take in the world around us,” they said.

While we have a pretty good idea about what the metaverse is about, it will be several years before we can truly see it in action. Things will and always do change, and technology will evolve. People may not like it but it will be cool to see the results.
