QUICK DIY FIXES FOR DRY SKIN

The winter months are coming and the weather is finally getting cooler. Along with low temperatures and chilly winds comes none other than dry skin, the perfect reason to break out some new skin care habits. Of course the age old issue with skin care is that it can become so pricey, and it frequently consists of harsh chemicals and other unfamiliar ingredients that will do no good for your skin. This is why I’ve comprised a list of some at home DIY skin care recipes that involve just a few ingredients you can easily find in your kitchen! They’re so simple to make within minutes and your skin will love you for it!

  1. Coffee Ground Scrub

The number one thing you can do for your skin in the winter months is exfoliate to get rid of dry, damaged skin. Mix together ¼ cup of coffee grounds, ¼ cup coconut/ olive oil, and 2 tbs of brown sugar to make to perfect body scrub. Scrub down your arms and legs, focusing on dry patches and joints while in the shower, and then rinse off the excess to reveal literally the softest skin you’ve ever felt. You have to try this out, the coconut oil works wonders!

  1. Avocado Face Mask

This has got to be the most simple face mask ever. Avocados are great for bringing back moisture to your skin that the winter months have taken away. All you need to do is half your avocado, mash it up, and spread it on your face. Let this sit for about 10-15 minutes and if you need to do something while you wait, make avocado toast with your other half for a super healthy snack. Its got to be the most simple, yet beneficial trick for hydrated, healthy skin.

  1. Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

Everyone begins to get chapped lips when the cold weather comes and sometimes, chapstick just doesn’t cut it. A quick fix to your dry, chapped lips is brown sugar lip scrub. Mix equal parts brown sugar and coconut oil (½ to 1 tablespoon each) in a small resealable container and apply this to your lips. Rub them together for 30 seconds, then wipe away the dead skin and excess product (or eat it if you want). The brown sugar will exfoliate your lips and rub away dry skin, while the coconut oil hydrates and replenishes your lips to ensure they don’t get too dry again. You can finish off with lip balm just for extra hydration.
