FLU SEASON

Flu season is just around the corner, so here are some tips to stay healthy!

FLU+SEASON

We all know that dreading time of year when the flu is at its peak. Flu season is usually between December and February, but in some cases can last up to May, in the right weather conditions. Although these are the months the influenza is at its peak, the flu starts showing up around October and November, according to www.cdc.gov  . If you’ve had the flu I’m sure you can say 100% that it is not fun! It is downright miserable. The CDC has estimated that 9.2 to 35.6 million people in JUST the United States get the flu virus each year!

In order to protect yourself from this upcoming flu season, the CDC recommends that anyone over the age of 6 months receives a flu vaccination yearly. Also, try staying away from anyone that seems to be sick  and wash your hands as much as possible just to be safe. If you do get sick with the flu, stay away from other people. Stay home from work or school until you are better. There are prescription drugs you can get from your doctor, but since the influenza is a virus based illness they can only help with the symptoms. Your body has to fight the actual virus out,  according to www.cdc.gov .
