EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CURRENT NFL MVP RACE

iUP students give their insight on who will take home the award this year!

The NFL MVP award is perhaps the most prestigious award currently in the entire league and is given to those who are widely recognized as the Most Valuable Player. Throughout modern times, this has primarily been an award given to the quarterback of the team as they act as the backbone and are essential for success. Just some necessary aspects of a potential MVP candidate would be their ability to rally the team behind them and completely shift the momentum to their favor as well as being able to produce great results in the eye of pressure. Just some previous winners of this award include Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, and Tom Brady. With all of these amazing players still playing in the NFL, they will continue to go above and beyond to try to secure their place as the MVP of the 2021 season.

A Quick Background Look On The Frontrunners

Currently given the best odds to receive the award is the all-time GOAT, Tom Brady. Despite him being 44 years old and the oldest player currently playing in the league, Tom is having one of the best seasons of his career and is currently leading the league in touchdown passes (36) and passing yards (4134). The GOAT is also 1st in QBR and with him leading the deadly Bucs offense it is giving them a good chance to make it to the super bowl for the second straight season. Along with this, earlier this season iUP students predicted what team would have the best chances of winning the super bowl in Staff Writer Danny Hall’s Super Bowl article, and to no surprise, the Bucs were leading at 43%. Now 11 football weeks later, the Bucs are still very much a force to be reckoned with in the NFL.

Another potential MVP candidate in the 2021 race for the award is Aaron Rodgers as he has consistently put up good numbers most weeks in the NFL including 4 TDs and 341 passing yards on Sunday Night Football to help his team to a 45-27 win against the bears. However, it will still be hard to catch up to Tom Brady at this point in the season. Despite this, quarterbacks like Kyler Murray and Patrick Mahomes still have the slite chance to take the trophy as they have also performed well throughout the regular season.

Summary And iUP Students Predictions On The Matter

Now with the frontrunners stated, I asked students here at iUP who they think will take home the award. To no one’s surprise, Tom Brady Won by an overwhelming landslide, getting 40% more votes than 2nd place. At the rate he is at, it would have to be a miracle for anyone to take the title from him at this point in the season.

However, as many would say, it isn’t over until the fat lady sings and with the NFL being as unpredictable as it is, anything could happen.
