THE POWER OF BRAIN FOODS

Brain Foods can be really helpful! Here’s how…

Did you know that the foods you eat and the drinks you drink can affect your brain’s health?  There are many ways that people try to keep their brain’s health up!  Some people try to do puzzles every single day!  While that might work, the food you eat plays a major part in how your brain is able to function.  Did you know that processed foods have more sugar and unhealthy fats than their unprocessed relatives?  Many studies show that if you eat or drink too much sugar it can cause depression or Alzheimer’s disease.  Overconsumption of sugar also weakens your immune system and causes you to get sick faster.

Now that I’ve said what foods you need to limit (face it, processed foods are hard to give up completely), it’s time to tell you about to foods you should eat (or drink) a lot of!  Antioxidants are very important to your brain’s health and they can be found in delicious foods as well as in supplements. You shouldn’t be surprised when I tell you that veggies are number one on the antioxidant list, you knew they would be on an article called brain foods.  Vegetables are full of antioxidants, but you can make them easier to eat by using dressings or peanut butter.  Fruits are also full of antioxidants!  Especially strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries. Spices and some kinds of tea also have antioxidants.

All of those foods sound delicious to me, but since I have strange taste I figured I’d add in a list of supplements that you can take that will boost/maintain brain power.  Vitamin D, Omega-3s, and CoQ10 (coenzyme). These are all things that can be found naturally too.  You can go in the sun, eat lots of fish, and there is an article I found on CoQ10 that calls that coenzyme, the miracle molecule.  Brain power and brain health may not seem that important to you right now but studies show that people who are eating more of these foods at an early age are more likely to get better grades in school.  I’m not saying you should only eat these foods (I would die too) but adding some of these foods or the supplements to your daily diet can make a big difference.

I would recommend you researching further because there are articles about how dark chocolate helps boost brain power and health.
