We all have busy schedules as we are preparing for the most difficult points in our lives. At this stage, it seems like there are exams after exams, lessons after lessons and we sometimes forget about the fact that we need to take care of ourselves. Self-care is always a priority to remember because overworking your body and your mind can lead to you building up avoidable stress. For myself, I know sometimes I’m so caught up with everything and I end up treating my body horribly because I don’t take the time out to stop and simply drink water. When you take care of yourself it gives you more drive to finish your task because you will feel rejuvenated.
A step you can take to take care of yourself is just taking a 15-minute break each day from staring at your computer. As virtual students, we tend to spend a lot of time on our computer but this is not healthy for our eyes because we can develop eye problems. As virtual students also we find that we sit a lot around a desk or wherever we are sent up to do our school work,  for the majority of our days we are sitting. It is healthy to make sure that every day you get up and stretch your legs and walk around your house for a minute. If you have a big backyard, you can walk around or go outside and go for a walk around your neighborhood. This helps your body to regulate in a better way. Walking is such a powerful thing. It has a lot of effects on how our systems work, especially our digestive system. As a student I know for myself sometimes I’m afraid to take a break, I’m afraid to stop because I have so much to do and I feel the burden but sometimes you must stop, go put on a facial mask, relax and just listen to music just to release some of that built-up tension you’ve had all day.
We need to realize that throughout life will always have stress, you will always have things to do, you will always have to go to a meeting, you will always have a task that you have to complete, and also it’s even more important to realize that the body that we have now is the body that we will have forever. Even though we have all these tasks that we need to complete, we have to stop and take care of our bodies and take time out to take care of ourselves, our souls, our minds because that is one thing that will be with us forever. If we overwork our systems at this young age and don’t take time out to replenish them we can have serious problems when we get older. It is best for us now to realize there is nothing wrong with taking a break for ourselves. Do not ever feel guilty for replenishing your body because your body is thankful for such treatment.
