THE BOXCAR CHILDREN
Adventures of the 4 Alden’s
First graders to third graders, looking for a book series to read? I suggest the Boxcar Children. This series follows the events of 4 children without parents adventuring to their heart’s content. The Alden’s: Henry, Jessie, Violet, and young Benny, capture our attention with their dangerous yet fun adventures through vacationing to simple at-home events. This series, with more than a hundred books, is an easy read that is packed with exciting events! From solving crime to figuring out simple puzzles, the 4 Alden’s are a force to be reckoned with. Diverse characteristics are shown through the 4 siblings making you easily relate to at least one of them. With Henry being a matured young man, Jessie portraying motherly traits, Violet the nice and timid girl, and Benny, the immature and oblivious child, you are sure to fall in love with at least one of them.
Once you start reading, you’ll not only get to enjoy their adventures along with them, you’ll get to see them grow both physically and mentally. Throughout the series the 4 children grow up and mature independently. They learn from their mistakes and help each other grow to the best of their abilities. They paint a perfect picture of work dynamic with each other. Each sibling reaching out to help and learn from each other.
I encourage you guys to pick up a book from this series by Gertrude Chandler Warner. You’ll never be bored and will always be wanting to turn to the next page of adventure!
