Back to the Future

Literally

Back to the Future 2 originally came out in theaters in 1989, predicting what the year 2015 would look like. The specific time and day of that year is none other than this very day; October 21. In the movie Marty and Dr. Brown must travel through time in their well-recognized mobile, to the year 2015 to save Marty’s future. In the Back to the Future 2015, there are hoverboards, dog walking drones, flying cars and holographic’s including a shark that looks like it is going to eat you when you look at it. All this and much more can be seen throughout the movie, but now that it is October 21, 2015, was the movie accurate in portraying what the earth would be like?

Well as a matter of fact, it did. Today, though  just recently coming out, there are in fact hoverboards. They might not be as fancy and high-tech as the ones in the movie, but we got them. We have the drones too, but not necessarily for walking dogs, even though if people wanted to, they could. Sadly though there are no holographic’s of sharks, or flying cars in 2015 quiet yet. Maybe in the future.

Other stories have been brought up by this day, including whether or not the world is where we want it to be, and where we predict it will be in the following years. A Youtuber rather than comparing the movie to today recreated the film (cartoon) in what they thought might be the reactions  Marty and Dr. Brown if they traveled to our 2015. Instead of seeing the world as this incredible place, Marty and Dr. Brown saw it as falling apart. Global warming and non-gas mobiles unless extremely wealthy were some of the examples used in the video. Though discussing negative things in 2015, the YouTuber was successful in adding a sense of humor.

All day there has been celebration of Back to the Future, through parties, movie theater showings of the movie and much more. Whether it be celebrating the now, present or future, there is always time celebrating Back to the Future.
